A portion of State Road 70 in Myakka City that has been closed since Tuesday is open again.

The road was closed for repairs after a a sinkhole was discovered in the eastbound lane of State Road 70 east of Betts Road.

The sinkhole measured about two feet in diameter and was caused by the filling of an underground pipe, according to Florida Highway Patrol officials.

State Road 70 was closed between Mizell Road and Betts Road and a temporary detour was established.

All lanes are now open again.
