$2M-plus home sales jump start Manatee luxury market in October

MANATEE -- Three home sales that cracked $2 million got October luxury home sales off with a big bang.

Topping the list was a new 2,300-square-foot home in Holmes Beach that sold Oct. 5 for $3.2 million. According to Manatee County property records, Hoschak Properties LLC of Temperance, Mich., purchased the Gulf-front residence at 2907 Ave. F for just under its original $3.29 million list price from a company controlled by John Cannon of Tampa. Built on an eighth-of-an-acre beachfront lot, the two-story home replaces a circa-1972 structure demolished last year.

The listing agent for the transaction was George DeSear of Island Investment Realty. The selling agent was Kathleen White of Island Real Estate.

The other two big sales in the first week of the month were in The Lake Club in Lakewood Ranch. Fetching top dollar was a four-bedroom, 5,682-square-foot home at 7917 Waterton Lane that London Bay Homes sold to Douglas and Joanna Hansen of Medina, Wash., for $2.62 million on Oct. 1.

The selling agent in the transaction was Laura Stavola of Sotheby's International Realty.

Not far away, Robert and Peggy Winsler of Sarasota purchased another four-bedroom Lake Club home at 16211 Clearlake Ave. on Oct. 2 for $2.02 million, according to county records. Anchor Builders of Sarasota built the approximately 5,200-square-foot home.

Sales of homes priced at

more than $1 million have been brisk this year.

According to Multiple Listing Service statistics, 109 homes in that price range have sold in 2015 in Manatee County.

The county's top 2015 residential sale came on May 4 when a 6,000-square-foot mansion at 5871 Gulf of Mexico Drive went for $5.625 million.
