Emeril's Florida featuring Star Fish Co. Market and Restaurant in Cortez premieres Sunday
CORTEZ -- In May, Star Fish Co. Market and Restaurant hosted world-famous chef and food TV personality Emeril Lagasse for a meal of a soft-shell crab sandwich, a shrimp and oyster po' boy and blackened grouper at their dockside restaurant.
Lagasse stopped by to film for an episode of Emeril's Florida, his Cooking Channel show focused on Florida's culinary delights. Laurie Jones, manager of Star Fish, told the Herald in May much of the episode focuses on Karen Bell, the market and restaurant's longtime owner.
The episode, titled "Seafood Shacks," will premiere on Sunday at 2:30 p.m., air again on Jan. 25 at 9:30 a.m. and on Jan. 28 at 10:30 a.m. After Star Fish, Lagasse visits Mrs. Mac's Kitchen and takes a trip to Crazy Fish in Lake Wales. The episode ends with Lagasse whipping up his own Florida-style dish, a Crab Jalapeno "Hot Pot" and Garlic and Lemon Toasts.
After Lagasse visited Star Fish in May, Bell said the restaurant's traffic increased by noticeable margins. Since then, the Star Fish kitchen has changed some of its processes to speed up order time.
"It's a great problem to have," Bell told the Herald in May.
