‘A relaxing vibe.’ New Bradenton coffee shop spins vinyl while you sip
Vinyl records are stacked on a countertop, while music plays in the background at one of Manatee County’s newest coffee shops.
Spinning Coffee opened in March at 515 36th St. W., Suite E, just off Manatee Avenue.
For co-owners Vincent Truyen and Mohd Hasan — who are also best friends and neighbors — it’s all about sharing their love of coffee and music with others.
“We don’t really care if we make money or not,” Truyen said. “We make enough money. ... I love coffee. He loves coffee and he always want to have a small coffee shop as a hobby. So we come up with an idea and make (a) coffee shop together.”
In the 1,200-square-foot space, records and vintage music equipment line the walls, while warm wood accents and greenery draped from the ceiling add to the laid-back atmosphere.
“We want a relaxing vibe … we want people to come here to listen to music and relax and talking to friends,” Truyen said.
The coffee is also different from what you’ll find at most area shops. Truyen has a coffee farm in Vietnam, and imports their coffee beans from there.
What’s on the menu?
The Vietnamese iced coffee is the most popular drink at Spinning Coffee.
“We make (it) with condensed milk and really strong coffee dripping through a filter,” Truyen said. “And what makes it different is if you use the wrong beans in there. You go to Publix or Walmart, you buy the bean, it’s not gonna come out the right way. I have to import the beans from Vietnam to here.”
In addition to Vietnamese iced coffee, Spinning Coffee offers classics including cappuccino, double espresso, cold brew, macchiato, Americano, mocha and cortado.
The shop also sells lattes, teas, smoothies and specialty drinks, such as the Japanese Ceremonial Matcha.
When ordering a drink with milk, customers can choose skim, almond, oat or coconut milk.
Spinning Coffee also serves food, such as breakfast sandwiches, an avocado toast platter, some pastries, house salad and more.
What’s the price range?
Specialty drinks range from $4.95 to $8.99, while classic coffees are mostly in the $3.50 to $5.50 range.
Diners can grab a breakfast sandwich for $13 to $14 or a pastry for $4.50 to $8, while other food items are mostly between $11 and $14.
“So far it’s been good,” Hasan said.
Spinning Coffee is open daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
