‘We dip ... almost everything.’ Canadian dessert shop plans Parrish store

An ice cream franchise with roots in the Great White North has plans to open a store in a growing part of Manatee County.

Montreal-based La Diperie filed paperwork with the county’s Development Services to renovate an existing space at the Creekside Commons shopping plaza in Parrish. Lowe’s anchors the shopping center located off U.S. 301 North.

La Diperie was founded in 2014, according to company history. They have more than 60 locations across Canada and Florida. The company’s United States debut was its shop in St. Petersburg.

La Diperie specializes in its customizable, dipped desserts from soft-serve ice cream to donuts.

“We dip … almost everything,” says the company’s website.

La Diperie offers more than 100 flavor combinations and over 20 toppings to choose from.

Customers begin their own customizable sweet treat by choosing from either soft serve, cheesecake, hard ice cream, donuts, cookies or cookie dough. Then you pick from one of three different chocolate-based dips, and top it with whichever toppings you prefer.

La Diperie also has signature combinations in a cup or cone. The shop’s namesake, for example, is a soft-serve dipped in milk chocolate, topped with almonds and drizzled with caramel syrup.

La Diperie’s hard ice cream flavors include pistachio, cookies and cream, mint chocolate chip, chocolate, vanilla, maple taffy, mango sherbet and more.

Other menu items include milkshakes, popcorn, cakes, donuts, smoothies, cookies, waffles and razzle, which mixes soft serve with toppings. La Diperie also sells Cheesecake Factory slices.

An opening date for La Diperie, which is slotted in between Kelly’s Roast Beef and Oar and Iron, has not been announced.

Montreal-based MTY Food Group, which owns Cold Stone Creamery among several other American and Canadian food brands, is the parent company for La Diperie.
