Popular franchise Culver’s set to add another restaurant in Manatee County

A popular Midwest chain restaurant is under construction in Parrish.

Culver’s is being built at 10824 U.S. 301 N. in the new Shops at Harrison Ranch shopping plaza. The Wisconsin-based franchise is known for its made-to-order Butter Burgers and frozen custard desserts.

An opening date or completion date for construction has not been announced yet. Original site plans filed with Manatee County Development Services said the Culver’s in Parrish was scheduled to begin construction in March and be completed by late August.

According to building records, the Culver’s will encompass nearly 4,800 square feet.

It’s the seventh Manatee County location for Culver’s. The others are located at: 3515 Cortez Road W., Bradenton; 1801 U.S. 301 N., Palmetto; 13020 State Road 64 E., Bradenton; 4714 E. State Road 64, Bradenton; 5750 Ranch Lake Blvd., Lakewood Ranch; 2605 University Parkway, Sarasota.

New Culver’s restaurant planned in Parrish

The first Culver’s opened in Sauk, Wisconsin in 1984. Craig and Lea Culver founded the popular franchise alongside Craig’s parents, George and Ruth.

They introduced the world to their Butter Burger, which is a fresh, never-frozen beef patty seared on a grill and served on a lightly buttered and toasted bun.

The fast-casual franchise also offers its signature thick, frozen custard. Customers can choose from vanilla, chocolate or a rotating flavor of the day. There are several toppings or mix-ins if ordering a shake, concrete mixer or sundae.

Aside from the custard and burgers, Culver’s menu has sandwiches, salads and drinks.

The new Culver’s is locally owned and operated, like others in the area.

Culver’s began franchising its restaurant in 1990. Cheese curds were added to the menu in 1997. To date, there are more than 1,000 stores in 26 states.

Culver’s first came to the area in 2014 at the University Parkway location.

Business review app and website Yelp ranked Culver’s the fourth-best burger brand in the United States for 2025.
