A Manatee County restaurant popular for tacos and burritos is expanding
A local restaurant chain specializing in San Francisco-style Mexican street food is expanding.
Poppo’s Taqueria recently announced its first restaurant in Parrish, in the Market Walk at North River Ranch shopping plaza, will open sometime this winter.
An exact date was not announced.
Poppo’s first location opened in 2013 on Anna Maria Island. Since then, the family-owned company has added locations in Bradenton and St. Petersburg.
Tacos, burritos, bowls and more
Poppo’s Taqueria makes its food from scratch and takes inspiration from San Francisco’s Mission District and Oakland, California — two cities the family lived — for its street food, according to company history.
Poppo’s menu features burritos, tacos, quesadillas, bowls, street corn, rice and beans, chips and salsa, guacamole and beverages.
Customers can build their own burrito, taco, bowl or quesadilla.
According to the company, Poppo’s scratch-made food uses antibiotic and hormone-free meats and mostly organic foods without seed oils or high fructose corn syrup.
Poppo’s plans expansion into Parrish
Poppo’s has five other locations: 212 C Pine Ave., Anna Maria; 6777 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton; 4220 53rd Ave. E., Suite 108, Bradenton; 8471 Cooper Creek Blvd., Bradenton and 1033 Central Ave., St. Petersburg.
