3Natives is now serving its healthy twist on fast food in Parrish.

Known for its acai bowls and smoothies, the casual restaurant chain recently opened its newest Manatee County location at 8980 U.S. 301, Unit 122 in the Creekside Commons shopping plaza.

Anthony Bambino started 3Natives as a juice bar in 2013 in Palm Beach County’s Tequesta. Since then, the company has expanded to over 40 locations in Florida, Georgia, New York, Oklahoma and Arizona, according to a company history.

The Parrish shop is the third 3Natives location to open in the area. The other cafes are at 11577 S.R. 70 E., Lakewood Ranch, and 309 North Cattleman Road, Unit 6 at the University Town Center.

What is acai?

Acai berries are native to trees grown in tropical Central and South America, specifically the Amazon rainforest region of Brazil. The berries are blended and placed in a bowl with other fruit toppings or mixed as a smoothie.

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) said lab studies show acai has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits. The fruit has a notable dark purple color to it.

Acai bowls are a sweet treat popular in Brazil, but have found footing in other tropical locales such as Puerto Rico and Florida. 3Natives is one of several health food shops in the Sunshine State offering acai bowls.

What’s on the 3Natives menu?

3Natives offers six different types of bowls, with acai as the base in four of them. Dragonfruit and Greek yogurt are the base in the other two. Toppings include granola, bananas, strawberries, blueberries, honey, coconut shavings, kiwi, raspberries, pineapples, green apples, peanut butter, chia seeds, hemp seeds, almond butter and more.

There are also six different styles of smoothies, plus salads, wraps, hot and pressed sandwiches, bagels and toast, coffee and juices.

3Natives says on its website that it sources its organic acai from Sambazon, “a company that helps more than 20,000 local family farmers and protects more than 2 million acres of rainforest and gives 5% of the fruit’s cost directly back to the Brazilian community.”

“With every delicious bowl, you’re helping create positive change in the world,” 3Natives says on its website. “The more purple smiles, the more we give back.”

3Natives also offers food options for gluten-free and vegan diets.
