Bradenton’s newest Chipotle Mexican Grill is set to open sometime this fall at 5002 Cortez Road W.

And when it does, the fast-casual restaurant chain will have two eateries within about 2 miles of each other on the same busy Manatee County road.

So what is the plan for the existing Chipotle at 1608 Cortez Road W.?

“The restaurant located at 1608 Cortez Road W. will remain open,” a Chipotle spokesperson confirmed to the Bradenton Herald.

An exact opening date for Chipotle’s newest Manatee County restaurant has not been announced. However, it will feature the Chipotlane, a drive-thru pick-up lane allowing people to pick up digital orders without leaving their cars.

More than 260 Chipotle restaurants are in Florida, with four in Manatee County. They are at 1608 Cortez Road W., 6020 U.S. 301, Ellenton and 11715 State Road 70 E., Lakewood Ranch.

Two more Chipotle restaurants are also coming to different parts of Manatee County, according to local building records. The Bradenton Herald previously reported on the company’s plan to add a location at the Marketplace at Heritage Harbour near State Road 64 and Interstate 75, with another planned at 4640 State Road 70 E.

Chipotle’s menu consists of burritos, burrito bowls, tacos, salads, chips and sides, beverages and more. You can build your own bowl by choosing a protein, rice, beans, veggies and other toppings.

Steve Ells founded Chipotle, which is headquartered in Newport Beach, California, in 1993. The first Chipotle opened in Denver, Colorado, according to a Rocky Mountain News article.
