One of America’s largest fast food chain restaurants is coming to a growing area in Manatee County.

According to Manatee County building records, Wendy’s is planned for the Fort Hamer area in Parrish. Records show the project is for a 2,080-square-foot Wendy’s restaurant, with construction set to begin in January.

Construction for the fast-food chain’s newest Manatee County restaurant would not finish until November 2025, records said.

Its location is on the southwest corner of the U.S. 301 and Fort Hamer Road intersection.

Wendy’s has 522 locations in Florida, with six in Bradenton, one in Ellenton, one in Palmetto and one off University Parkway, according to the company’s website.

Founder Dave Thomas opened the first Wendy’s opened in November 1969 in Columbus, Ohio, according to company history. In March 2022, Wendy’s opened its 7,000th store. There are more than 6,000 Wendy’s locations in the United States.

The fast-food giant is known for their burgers and Frosty’s, a dairy dessert with a consistency resembling “a cross between a milkshake and soft-serve ice cream,” a 2022 Reader’s Digest article said.
