3rd location of Mademoiselle Paris restaurant, bakery to open soon on Anna Maria Island

Myriam and Jean Dandonneau are aiming to open their third Mademoiselle Paris restaurant and bakery in March on Anna Maria Island.

They recently bought the former My AMI French Food restaurant, 9906 Gulf Drive, Anna Maria, and are in the process of getting it ready to serve their breakfast, lunch and dinner menu. The new baking oven was delivered just last week.

“This is a good location, close to the beach. It’s a good opportunity for everyone,” Jean said.

It’s also a good opportunity for anyone to sample the famous French cuisine, including the pastries, croissants, bread, and wine. Mademoiselle Paris serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and also offers catering.

When the couple learned the Anna Maria restaurant was for sale from owners and friends Laurence and Thierry Rouxel, they quickly decided they wanted it. The clincher was the terrace seating out back.

“That’s why we took the restaurant, the terrace is beautiful,” Myriam said.

Major renovations won’t be required, but the couple are sprucing up the 78-seat restaurant, and repainting it in the white, black and red color scheme they use at their original restaurant that they opened six years ago at 8527 Cooper Creek Blvd.

In October, they opened their second restaurant at 1605 Main St., Sarasota.

Among the decor items they will be adding to their Anna Maria restaurant are photos of famous French beaches.

The Dandonneaus, who live in Bradenton, are originally from Paris, and became familiar with Orlando, Tampa and St. Petersburg through their Florida vacations.

“It was a dream to come here. People are very positive. We feel their encouragement,” Jean said of the decision to open the original Mademoiselle Paris in University Town Center.

“We take a simple product and make it very good. A best seller is our croissant cut in half and served with bacon, scrambled eggs and Swiss cheese,” he said.

Vernoica Afonso will serve as manager of the newest Mademoiselle Paris and Gabu Tiamo will serve as chef.

How do the Dandonneaus keep up with their expanding restaurant operation?

“We have good managers,” Jean said.

Mademoiselle Paris restaurants are open 7:45 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Tuesday, and 7:45 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday-Sunday. Dinner is served daily except Monday and Tuesday.
