Mattison’s Riverwalk Grille named Travelers’ Choice winner based on diner reviews
Tripadvisor has presented Mattison’s Riverwalk Grille, 101 Riverfront Blvd., with its 2020 Travelers’ Choice award for Best Restaurant.
The award, based on a full year of Tripadvisor diner reviews, prior to any changes caused by the pandemic, ranks Mattison’s in the top 10 percent of hospitality businesses around the globe.
“We are really proud of this award. It’s nothing we solicited. It is basically our guests who are coming in, enjoying our food and service and taking the time to comment on it by giving us good accolades. It makes us want to work even harder for the next guest,” Paul Mattison, owner and executive chef, said.
Mattison’s Riverwalk Grille is known for its American cuisine with a Mediterranean influence, said chef Alex Vazquez.
“Our food is chef-inspired, and locally sourced. We want to put out great food and make our guests happy,” Vazquez said.
Mattison’s City Grille and Mattison’s Forty-One, both in Sarasota, also received the award.
“We strive every day to make each guest experience unique and wonderful. We are thankful that our hard work is being recognized. I also want to thank our entire staff who go above and beyond daily to make sure our guests are happy,” Mattison said.
Winners of the 2020 Travelers’ Choice Awards should be proud of this recognition,” Kanika Soni, chief commercial officer at Tripadvisor, said in a press release.
“Although it’s been a challenging year for travel and hospitality, we want to celebrate our partners’ achievements. Award winners are beloved for their exceptional service and quality. Not only are these winners well deserving, they are also a great source of inspiration for diners as the world begins to venture out again,” Soni said.
Riverwalk has been ranked number-one on Trip Advisor consistently for over a year out of 400 other great, local eateries said Caryn Hodge, Mattison’s marketing director.
“We are very excited that we received this award. We are very proud of that accomplishment. It is hard to stay on the top. We appreciate everyone who took the time to leave a review,” she said.
This week, Mattison’s announced the introduction of a new free delivery menu.

Mattison’s partners with online delivery services such as UberEats, BiteSquad and Door Dash but those services charge both the business and the consumer fees. Mattison’s service is fee-less.
“We understand that many people are struggling right now but they still want to enjoy great food. We want to provide them with a safe service and affordable food that nourishes and satisfies them. Our menu items include products that are locally sourced, sustainable and hormone and antibiotic free. Much of being healthy is determined by what kind of food we put in our body. My staff and I know that the type of products we use are healthy and nutritious,” Mattison said.
