Florida Studio Theatre in Sarasota opens magic show
Jason Michaels will fool you at the same time that he’s showing you how to avoid being fooled.
Michaels is a sleight-of hand expert who specializes in in giving audiences a look at the way card tricksters do what they do. He’s bringing his show “The CardShark” to the Florida Studio Theatre in Sarasota starting Tuesday. The show continues through Aug. 21.
People who have seen the show have expressed awe at Michaels’ skill with a deck of cards. NBC called him “incredible” and “fabulous,” and a newspaper in Tennessee wrote “Jason Michaels performs impossible feats with a deck of cards.”
But there’s more to his all-ages show than just showing off his sleight-of-hand chops. Michaels demonstrates the tricks used by unscrupulous card dealers, and shows the audience how to avoid being scammed. He does it all in an entertaining way, weaving stories through his routines of tricks and demonstrations.
At FST, he’ll perform in the intimate Court Cabaret. The audience will be part of the show — all from their seats, but some chosen to join Michaels onstage.
