Music in the Park Concert Series: Riverwalk Mosaic Amphitheater, Bradenton

Realize Bradenton's popular free, family friendly, outdoor concert series "Music in the Park," will be 6-8 p.m. Fridays through April with live music by the Gumbo Boogie Band April 15, Goodnight Neverland April 22, and La Lucha April 29. Ghost Spirit and Orb Walks: Bunker Hill Vineyards and Winery, 8905 Bunker Hill Road, Duette

Bunker Hill Vineyard will host "Spirit and Orb Walks" 6:30 p.m. April 16. Guests must arrive by 6 p.m. for a 30-minute indoctrination and discussion of the night's walk and activities. Guests are asked to bring cameras with a night flash, EVP recorders, EMF recorders, digital temperature recorders, and extra batteries. The "Spirit & Orb Walks" will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. and will last until 8 p.m. Good, closed toes, walking shoes, long pants and a jacket are encouraged. Since these walks will take place at night on both level and non-level ground, participants should be in good physical shape. Cost: $10. The DeSoto Heritage Festival Bottle Boat Regatta: Palma Sola Causeway, 9000 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton

The DeSoto Heritage Festival Bottle Boat Regatta will be 10 a.m.-2 p.m. April 16, featuring various teams of friends, co-workers and children on exotic hand-built plastic bottle boats competing with only paddles for propulsion. First Responders Day: Palmetto Historical Park, 515 10th Ave. W., Palmetto

Palmetto Mayor Shirley Groover Bryant proclaimed April 16 First Responders Day and invites the public to a celebration kicking off with a ceremony at 1 p.m. April 16. Free activities will continue until 4 p.m. and include a kids' Firefighter Challenge, a new museum exhibit about the history of local police and firefighters and information booths about emergency medicine, crime prevention, identity theft, personal safety. There will be crafts, contests and face painting, and Kids may get a peek inside an ambulance, fire truck and other First Responder vehicles and try on a police officer's gear and body armor. Hernando de Soto Landing reenactment: DeSoto National Memorial, 8300 De Soto Memorial Hwy., Bradenton

Witness history as de Soto's boats make landfall, claiming the land of "La Florida" for the crown of Spain 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. April 16. Visitors can walk through time and observe unique weapons and demonstrations, and experience history on the park's historical walks and tours. There will be activities for kids. Showfolks of Sarasota Open House: 5204 N. Lockwood Ridge Road, Sarasota

In conjunction with the celebration of World Circus Day the Showfolks of Sarasota will sponsor a public open house 11 a.m.-4 p.m. April 16. The public will have the opportunity to visit the 50-year old club which has been the social gathering place for hundreds of people associated with that incredible world of circus. The club features the most unique displays of photos of performers and personalities associated with domestic and international circuses, as well as beautiful original art. Sidewalk Astronomy: Holmes Beach City Hall field, 5801 Marina Drive, Holmes Beach

The local group of Deep Sky Observers, a Manatee/Sarasota group of astronomy enthusiasts, will offer the public a chance to view spectacular celestial sights through their high-powered telescopes at sunset, around 7:55 p.m. through 10 p.m. April 16, weather permitting. Participants will be treated to up close views of the moon and other celestial objects as they become visible throughout the evening. The event is free and open to the public. Annual Sarasota Arts and Craft Festival: Five Points Park on Central Avenue and First Street, Sarasota

The De Soto Heritage Festival 5K Run will begin with pre-registration at 4:30 p.m., run starts at 6 p.m. immediately prior to the De Soto Heritage Festival Grand Parade which starts at 6:30 p.m. April 30. The Grand Parade, an illuminated night parade with more than 150 entries will proceed west on Ninth Avenue, north along 39th Street West to Manatee Avenue and then east toward downtown.
