Pearl Jam comes to Tampa's Amalie Arena
Way back when "the Seattle sound" and "grunge" were marketable (but meaningless) terms, Pearl Jam was one of the biggest bands in the world, thanks to charismatic front man Eddie Vedder and such powerful songs as "Alive," "Even Flow" and "Jeremy."
Pearl Jam recently celebrated 25 years together, and virtually the entire lineup has remained intact since 1990. Vedder, guitarists Stone Gossard and Mike McCready and bassist Jeff Ament have all been together for the past quarter-century.
The band went through a bunch of drummers in its early years before Matt Cameron, who's also the drummer for Soundgarden, joined in 1998.
Pearl Jam's coming to Tampa for a Monday night concert at the Amalie Arena.
Besides its music, Pearl Jam was well known back in the '90s for its iconoclastic approach to the music business, which included a boycott of Ticketmaster.
On this tour, you can get Pearl Jam tickets through Ticketmaster if you want, but the tickets have been selling fast and availability was already limited a week before the concert. All the seats in the entire arena are the same price, too, so at this point you may have to settle for nosebleed seats behind the stage.
Details: 8 p.m. April 11 Amalie Arena, 401 Channelside Drive, Tampa. Tickets: $67.75. Information: 813-301-2500, amaliearena.com.
