Join the Manatee County Extension Service in celebrating the heritage and environmental stewardship of agriculture in Manatee County by visiting a few of our finest agricultural operations 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Sept. 23. This is a fun-filled, daylong bus tour. Tours this year include, but not necessarily in this order: SMR Farms, Longino Ranch, Blackbeard’s Ranch and Florida Suncoast Orchids. The registration fee ($25 adults, $10 ages 5-17) includes tour bus transportation, snacks, lunch, gratuity, and entry into all hosting sites, some which are not typically open to the public. The local group of Deep Sky Observers, a Manatee/Sarasota group of astronomy enthusiasts, will offer the public a chance to view spectacular celestial sights through their high-powered telescopes at sunset, around sunset through 10 p.m. Sept. 23, weather permitting, at G.T.
