Village of the Arts monthly art walk

Dog Day Road Rally

The Manatee JcCongress Club is having a Dog Day Road Rally starting at 10 a.m. Aug. 5 at Sutton Park in Palmetto. Participants get a list of questions to answer as they drive around a planned outdoor course. At the end, if their answers are correct they possibly win a prize. Sarasota Jungle Gardens Back-to-School Celebration

Sarasota Jungle Gardens’ “Back to School Bash” is the perfect way to enjoy a little more fun before school schedules take over. For two days, Aug. 5 and 6, adults may bring up to three children each for free with the purchase of a full-priced adult admission. Tampa Theatre Annual Summer Classics Movie Series

The Summer Classics lineup celebrates eight decades of extraordinary filmmaking, and are “Reservoir Dogs” Aug. 6, “The Wizard of Oz” Aug. 12-13, “Grease,” a sing-along event, Aug. 20, “Casablanca” Aug. 26-27, and “Metropolis” Sept. 3. Sidewalk Astronomy

The local group of Deep Sky Observers, a Manatee/Sarasota group of astronomy enthusiasts, will offer the public a chance to view spectacular celestial sights through their high-powered telescopes at sunset, around sunset through 10 p.m. Sept. 23, weather permitting, at G.T. Bray Park, 5502 33rd Ave. Dr. W., Bradenton. Participants will be treated to up close views of the moon and other celestial objects as they become visible throughout the evening.
