500 Years of History project "Noche de Cuentos/A Night of Stories": The State College of Florida Manatee-Sarasota will host a presentation of oral histories and a storytelling event in the Latino Americans: 500 Years of History project "Noche de Cuentos/A Night of Stories," with bilingual professional storyteller Carrie Sue Ayvar 6:30 p.m. March 18 at the Library of SCF Bradenton, 5840 26th St. W., Building 8, Bradenton. Jewish Family and Children's Service of the Suncoast Food and Wine Tasting and Golf Challenge: The Jewish Family and Children's Service of the Suncoast will host a Food and Wine Tasting and Golf Challenge March 22 at the Resort at Longboat Key Club, 220 Sands Point Road, Longboat Key. The golf challenge begins with registration at 11:30 a.m. followed by a shotgun start and box lunch at 12:30 p.m. The food and wine tasting will be 6-8:30 p.m. and will feature over 25 celebrity chefs from local restaurants, select wines, martini bar, a silent auction and live music. "Eggstravaganza": Bring your baskets and children to the Lakewood Ranch Community Activities Club's "Eggstravaganza" 9:30-11:30 a.m. March 26 at Adventure Park on Adventure Place at SR 70 East, Lakewood Ranch. The event will feature an Easter egg hunt with over 12,000 eggs, prize drawings, a live petting zoo, the Easter Bunny, face painting, balloon art, music, pony rides and much more. Floral Design Study Series: The Manatee River Garden Club will be holding a Basic and Advanced Floral Design Study Series at the 3120 First Avenue W., Bradenton, 9:30 a.m. Thursdays beginning with Basic classes: Transporting materials and expressive designs, March 3; and Advanced classes: Dried materials and decorative wood, March 10; Advanced creative designs, March 17; Creative containers, March 31. Kidz Drama Workshops: Mirror Image Youth Theatre will offer the following drama workshops:

"Young Explorers, 12:30-2 p.m. March 5-April 16. Registration deadline: Feb. 27.

Students will become familiar with the art of drama and gain tools to help them become comfortable on stage. These workshops explore acting singing, and movement while using group ice-breakers, dramatic games, and short skits.

Fire Science classes: A mandatory orientation for two classes at the Fire Science Academy of Manatee Technical College will be 9 a.m. Feb. 27 at Manatee Technical College, East Campus, 5520 Lakewood Ranch Blvd., Bradenton. Students are scheduled to complete Fire Fighter I and II in January 2017 after which they will begin the Emergency Medical Technician portion of the program and finish by mid-April 2017. The volunteer teaches parents effective discipline, age appropriate behavior, and anger and stress management. The position requires a one-year commitment. United Way ReadingPals: Join the United Way of Manatee County in its third year of its ReadingPal program and become a ReadingPal volunteer and help a child learn to read. Through mentor/teacher relationship, volunteers can help increase the probability of success for children in school. The goal is to enlist 200 community volunteers for a 25-week program in which each volunteer will be matched with two students once a week, for an hour long session, 30 minutes per student. The initiative, which will take place September-May, is a one-on-one, guided reading program for kindergartners housed in five Manatee County schools. The schools' names, locations and times are:
