Laser light show back at Bradenton planetarium after 20 years. See a preview, schedule
Decades of pop music hits will be illuminated in vivid color this spring and summer at the Bishop Museum of Science and Nature in Bradenton.
Back for the first time since 2001, the museum’s popular Laser Light Nights series promises a diverse lineup of 25 radio-famous artists and their songs, from The Beatles to Beyoncé, paired with dazzling projections.
The series will bring five laser light shows a week to the museum’s astronomy theater, The Planetarium, from May 26 to Aug. 13. The state-of-the-art digital projection facility is also used to map the solar system and the galaxy during The Bishop’s daily visiting hours and for special events and science presentations.
Each show will highlight the music of one musician or band and last about an hour.
The first weekend of shows, which has already sold out, covers the music of Queen, Prince, Elton John, David Bowie and The Beatles.
The series lineup is so far confirmed through June 25 and also includes nights dedicated to Led Zeppelin, Rush, the Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Marley, Lady Gaga, Metallica, Nirvana, the Foo Fighters and Bruno Mars.
Shows for the latter half of the summer will be announced soon, museum staff say. Repeat showings of some of the most popular artists will be added at a later date.
Guests will be able to buy food and drink to enjoy in the Planetarium, and Laser Light Nights merchandise will also be available for purchase at the museum.
