Rockin' Wings Festival comes to Sarasota
It should be a hot weekend in Sarasota: Hot wings, hot music and probably hot weather.
A new festival is coming to Payne Park this weekend. It's called the Rockin' Wings Festival, and organizers promise more than 10,000 people will be there to chow down on some of the best wings in the area and listen to a weekend full of live classic rock.
Great wings are ensured because of a juried wings competition called "The Ultimate Chicken Wing Challenge" that offers "big prizes."
The rockin' comes from tribute bands The U.S. Stones on Saturday and Carnival of Crue on Sunday, according to the Facebook page.
If that's not enough to draw you to Payne Park, the Rockin' Wings festival also features face painting, games, motorcycle thrill shows and a kids zone with a climbing wall.
And if wings aren't your favorite, the festival also features vendors offering all kinds of other fare.
The festival organizers also produce the popular Sarasota Pumpkin Festival every year.
Details: Payne Park, 2050 Adams Lane, Sarasota. Hours: Noon-10 p.m. Saturday, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday. Tickets: $5 adults, children 12 and younger free. Information: facebook.com/events/446123658910083 or call 941-706-3102.
