Celtic Woman returns to Sarasota

Celtic Woman never seems to rest. It wasn't long ago that the popular Irish musicians completed their 10th anniversary tour, which drew millions of fans around the world. But already, since that tour ended, they've recorded a new CD and DVD and set off on another tour.

The CD, DVD and tour are all titled "Destiny." The tour comes to Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall in Sarasota on Saturday. (They'll also be at the Mahaffey Theater in St. Petersburg on Friday.)

The live show is a completely new production and features a lot of the songs from the CD. Among the songs in the show are such traditional Irish numbers as "Óró sé do bheatha 'bhaile," an anthem from the 1916 uprising, more contemporary songs such as "The Whole of the Moon" by the Waterboys, and re-workings of such audience favorites as "Amazing Grace" and "You Raise Me Up."

Celtic Woman has been Named Billboard Magazine's No. 1 World Albums artist six times. The current lineup includes three vocalists: Mairéad Carlin, Susan McFadden and newest member Éabha McMahon, plus violinist Máiréad Nesbitt. They're accompanied by backing singers and dancers..

Details: 7:30 p.m. April 30 Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall, 777 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota. Tickets: $58.15-$122.35. Information: 941-953-3368, vanwezel.org.
