Bradenton's favorite street party returns Thursday.

This month's Main Street Live, which is organized by the Old Main Street Merchants Association, begins at 5 p.m. today.

Old Main Street will be closed to vehicles from Manatee Avenue north to Third Avenue. Instead of cars and trucks, the street will be full of pedestrians and people selling food and beverages.

The main attraction, though, will be on the stage toward to south end of Old Main Street, where Bradenton's Michael Mac and his band and will be performing.

If you follow local music you're probably familiar with Michael Mac. He toured the country with his band the Line Up, which recorded on Mercury Records. Mac has opened for Kenny Wayne Sheppard, Taj Mahal, Lucky Peterson and The Outlaws. He formed the Michael Mac Band 10 years ago.

The band's music combines elements of rock, reggae, blues and soul.

Besides all the music, beverages and food that will be available, all the bars and restaurants on Old Main Street will be open for business, too. Main Street Live is free and open to all ages, but you'll have to be at least 21 to get into the bars.

Details: 5 p.m.-midnight April 22, Old Main Street between Manatee Avenue and Third Avenue, Bradenton. Admission: Free. Information: cityofbradenton.com,
