Sarasota's Van Wezel announces 2016-17 season
The people at Sarasota's Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall have been beefing up their subscription packages in recent years. On Thursday, they announced their 2016-17 season, and at first glance it appears that they have done that, with a season full of quality shows and more variety of subscription plans than ever before.
Broadway season shows include some of the biggest hits of the past few seasons, including "Once," Pippin" and a week-long run of
"Kinky Boots."
Dance offerings feature some of the finest contemporary dance performers and companies in the world, including Twyla Tharp, Momix and Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.
If you love classical music, you can catch Itzhak Perlman, Lang Lang and Keith Lockhart with the Boston Pops.
The hall is offering a wide choice of subscription options. For instance, you can get 15 percent off the purchase price if you buy tickets to all five of the season's dance performances, or 20 percent if you catch all 10 shows in the Broadway season.
There are also options that let you pick a number of shows in each series and save up to 15 percent.
Season tickets are on sale now by phone (941-953-3368) or at the Van Wezel box office (777 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota). Tickets for individual shows will go one sale in early September.
