They were two of the biggest bands of the 1970s, both in record sales and in sheer number of members.

Now Earth, Wind & Fire and Chicago have teamed up for a national tour, and they're stopping at the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre in Tampa for a concert on Saturday.

Both bands have lost some keys members over the years. Maurice White, the founder of Earth, Wind & Fire and the lead singer on many of the band's most popular songs, died earlier this year. Chicago's guitarist and occasional singer Terry Kath died in 1978, and singer-bassist Peter Cetera went solo in 1985.

But lots of the members who have given the bands their signature sounds will still be with them for the Tampa show: Singer Robert Lamm, brass players Lee Loughnane and James Pankow and reed player Walter Parazaider have been members of Chicago from the late '60s through today, and Earth, Wind & Fire's singer Philip Bailey, bassist Verdine White and drummer Ralph Johnson are all part of the classic lineup.

Both bands hit their commercial peaks in the '70s, but have remained active through the decades, performing live and making fan-pleasing albums. Earth, Wind & Fire released "Holiday" in 2014, and Chicago's "Chicago XXXVI: Now" came out that same year.

Details: 7:30 p.m. March 26, MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre, 4802 U.S. 301, Tampa. Tickets: $18.95-$118 plus service charge. Information: 813-740-2446, livenation.com.
