Rihanna performs at Tampa's Amalie Arena
There's arguably no bigger star in popular music these days than Rihanna. Her stylistic blend of dance hall, reggae, soul and hip-hop -- along with some very public problems in her past relationship with former suitor Chris Brown -- have made her one of those performers whose name is known by everyone.
People who know her music know she has the vocal chops and artistic vision to back up her fame.
Some people have called her most recent album, "Anti" the best of her 11-year career. It not as polished as her previous seven albums and shows of a bit of an edge that critics and fans have so far appreciated. You can count on hearing a lot of "Anti" songs when the Barbadian singer-songwriter-fashion icon performs at Tampa's Amalie Arena on Sunday.
Rihanna's opening act on her "Anti" world tour -- which just started a couple of weeks ago and continues through mid-August -- is rapper Travis Scott, who's most widely known for his hit "Antidote" from last year, and from his more current collaboration with Major Lazer and others on "Night Riders."
Details: 7;30 p.m. March 13, Amalie Arena, 401 Channelside Drive, Tampa. Tickets: $47.25-$126.75. Information: 813-301-2500, amaliearena.com.
