Health screening and a cornhole tournament highlight The Guy Expo in Palmetto
If you're like most guys, you probably don't go to the doctor's office for check-ups often enough. But you might go if the doctor's office had beer, poker, races and virtual reality games.
That's the idea behind the Guy Expo, which is scheduled for Saturday at the Bradenton Area Convention Center.
The fun stuff includes a cornhole tournament with big prizes, a virtual reality gun range, a 12-foot flat-screen TV with Xbox and PS4, Shifter Karts, poker tournaments, beer from Motorworks and lots of cool cars and trucks on display.
The whole thing is organized by a medical practice called Urology Partners, so they're hoping that while you're at the Guy Expo you'll let doctors screen you for low testosterone and HIV, check your vision, blood pressure, blood glucose and cholesterol and maybe even give blood. Almost all of the health tests and screenings are free (the cholesterol test costs $10 and you need to fast for eight hours first). Plus, you'll get a $5 Walgreens gift card if you give blood.
By the way, even though it's called the Guy Expo, women are welcome, and they, too, can take advantage of most of the health services.
