Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra perform in Sarasota

Russian-born, American-trained Dmitry Yablonsky is one of the most in-demand people in the world of classical music, both for his cello work and his conducting.

On Tuesday, he'll wield the baton in front of the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra for a concert at the Sarasota's Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall.

Yablonsky, who was schooled at the Juilliard School of Music and Yale University, has in recent years been the principal guest conductor with the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, and he has conducted the Belgian National Orchestra, Catania Opera Orchestra, Netherlands North Orchestra, Holland Symphonia, Bologna Chamber Orchestra, Taiwan National Orchestra, Russian State Orchestra, Orchestre National d´Ile de France, and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

The program he'll conduct with the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra include "The Khojaly Requiem" by Alexander Tchaikovsky, Camille Saint-Saens' cello concerto and Sergei Rachmaninoff's second symphony.

Yablonsky began his craeer as a cellist, and is still at least as well known as a cellist as he is as an conductor. But for the Saint-Seans, the cello soloist will be Danielle Akta, a teenage vituoso from Israel who is touring the country with the Jerulsalem Symphony
