Sarasota's Starlite Players reprise some of their most popular plays
Most months, Sarasota's Starlite Players produce an evening a four new, short comedies by writers from the Sarasota-Bradenton area.
They've been doing it long enough now that they can present a "best of" evening, featuring four plays Starlite audiences have asked to see again. That also makes probably this a good time to check out Starlite Players, if you haven't already.
The evening is called "Free Spirits." Some of the plays are being re-staged with the original actors; others have been re-cast.
"Thanks for the Memories," by Marvin Albert, is a quirky romantic comedy about a couple who chat on a bench outside their senior living facility. It turns out the situation isn't what it seems.
"Breaking Harvard," by Nicole Cunningham, revolves around persuasive parents who try to convince a dean that their son is worthy of admission to Harvard. They have a hefty income, but it comes from an unusual occupation.
"We're Having a Baby," by Irene L. Pynn, is about a young couple who tell their OB-GYN that they want a baby in the worst way, and their wish might come true more literally than they hoped.
"Confessions a Deux," by Stephen Cooper, has a young priest hearing his first confession. It turns out the penitent is his new superior. They end up confessing to each other, and find commonality among their transgressions.
