If you happen to have a nun's habit or a vintage Austrian naval uniform hanging in your closet, you might want to pull it out Friday evening.

The Players Theatre in Sarasota is hosting a "Sound of Music" sing-along that evening. The classic film of the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical will be on the theater's screen, and the audience is encouraged to sing along with such familiar tunes as " Do-Re-Mi," "My Favorite Things," "Climb Ev'ry Mountain" and, of course, the title song.

You're invited to come in costume as your favorite character. That could mean anything from the Von Trapp kids' uniforms to Maria's peasant dress to traditional Austrian garb and to stylish men's suits from 80 years ago. (It could mean Nazi uniforms too, of course, but if you own one of those you're probably not the kind of person who likes to sing along with classic musicals.)

It's kind of like a midnight screening of "Rocky Horror Picture Show" only with classier characters and more genteel songs, and without the squirt guns and hot dogs.

The film came out in 1965, and last year screenings with audience sing-alongs became popular around the country in celebration of the 50th anniversary.

Venues as large as the Hollywood Bowl hosted sing-alongs.

Details: 7:30 p.m. Feb. 12, The Players Theatre, 838 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota. Tickets: $25 adults, $12 students under 24. Information: 941-365-2494, theplayers.org.
