Todd Rundgren comes to the Mahaffey Theater in St. Petersburg

Todd Rundgren's been making great rock, pop and experimental music since the 1960s, when he burst on the scene with his amazing but short-lived band Nazz ("Open My Eyes," the original version of his signature song "Hello It's Me"), into the '70s with his pop band Runt ("We Gotta Get You a Woman"), his solo career that started with the seminal album "Something/Anything?" and his prog-influenced work fronting Utopia. In more recent years, he's created electronic music under the name TR-I and was a member of the New Cars that featured members of the Cars, Blondie and Utopia and performed with Ringo Starr and his All-Starr Band.

That barely scratches the surface of Rundgren's musical journey. He's had a long and stylistically flowing career, and he'll be playing bits from across the years when he comes to the Mahaffey Theater in St. Petersburg on Valentine's Day.

The show's called "An Evening With Todd Rundgren," and it features Rundgren with a band that includes John Ferenzik, Jesse Gress, Prairie Prince and Kasim Sulton.

They're all long-time Rundgren sidekicks. Sulton was the bassist for Utiopia and Prince is the drummer for the Tubes, and was the original drummer for Journey.

Rundgren creates a new set list for each show on the tour, so there's no telling exactly what you'll get to hear at the Mahaffey show.
