The Gulf Drive Band plays at Jazz Fest in Anna Maria
Tuesday afternoons aren't usually an ideal time to catch live jazz. But the 13th annual Jazz Fest on Anna Maria Island offers some great music for a great cause.
It's set for 3-5 p.m. this coming Tuesday at the Sandbar Pavilion.
The music comes from some local favorites The Gulf Drive Band, which features Judy Lynn from Cleveland on vocals, Ted Young from Pittsburgh on piano and Bil Bowdish from Boston on flute, sax and vocals, playing jazz selections from the 1920s up though the 1990s. The "special guest star" for Jazz Fest will be another area favorite, sax player Koko Ray Hansen. Hansen's known for playing two saxophones at once.
The Sandbar will provide refreshments at an additional charge.
The profits from the festival go to the Anna Maria Island Concert Chorus & Orchestra, to help ensure it can continue offering classical music for the community.
Tickets are available at the Anna Maria Island Chamber, 5313 Gulf Drive, Holmes Beach.
The Sandbar will provide refreshments at an additional charge.
Details: 3-5 p.m. Feb. 9, Sandbar Pavilion, 100 Spring Avenue, Anna Maria. Tickets: $10 in advance (until noon Feb. 9), $15 at the door. Information: 941-518-4431.
