Axiom Brass joins Gloria Musicae for Sarasota concert
The Axiom Brass has been getting lots of standing ovations and rave reviews for their technical prowess over the past decade or so. The young quintet from Chicago has gained praise around the world for its "high level of musicality and technical ability" and "clean, clear and precise sound." The group's repertoire ranges from jazz and Latin music to string quartet transcriptions, as well as original compositions for brass quintet.
The Axiom Brass will be performing a program of Christmas music at Sarasota's Historic Asolo Theater for three performances this weekend. The concert, titled "Holiday Brass and Voices," is sponsored by the Artists Series Concerts of Sarasota.
The "voices" element of the concert comes from Gloria Musicae, a 24-voice professional ensemble based in Sarasota that was founded in 1979. Like Axiom, Gloria Musicae is known for technical expertise and a wide-ranging repertoire spanning four centuries and including major works with orchestra, intimate madrigals, folk songs, jazz and Broadway show music.
