Gulf Coast Flute Choir presents its annual Christmas Concert in Bradenton
If you love flute music and you love Christmas, you're going to want to be at Palma Sola Presbyterian Church in Bradenton on Monday evening.
That's date for the popular annual Christmas concert from the Gulf Coast Flute Choir.
The 14-year-old ensemble is made up of adult flutists of different skill levels from Manatee, Sarasota and Pinellas counties. The group plays two major concerts in Bradenton each year -- a Christmas concert and a spring concert -- and also performs at various community functions, retirement homes, weddings and church services throughout the year.
The flute choir plays a variety of styles, including classical, pop and show tunes. The music is written specifically for flute choirs, and includes parts for piccolo, and E flat, alto and bass flutes.
Amanda Lyon conducts.
The concert is free, but the choir would, of course, welcome donations
There's a change to this year's Christmas concert. In past years the concert has always started at 7:30 p.m. This year it's slated to start a bit earlier at 7 p.m.
Details: 7 p.m. Dec. 21, Palma Sola Presbyterian Church, 6510 Third Ave. W., Bradenton. Admission: Free. Information: gulfcoastflutechoir.com.
