ZZ Top announces Sarasota concert date
It's a great time to be a ZZ Top fan in the Bradenton area. Last month, front man Billy Gibbons played a solo show at the Mahaffey Theater in Sr. Petersburg. And now, the whole band -- Gibbons, bassist Dusty Hill and drummer Frank Beard -- have announced they're coming to Sarasota.
ZZ Top's 2016 "Hell Raisers" tour is scheduled to make a stop April 27 at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday.
Gibbons, Hill and Beard have been the only members of ZZ Top for 46 years. ("Same three guys, same three chords," Gibbons has said from the concert stage). They've sold millions of albums and they've had such hits as "La Grange," "Legs" and "Sharp Dressed Man." On this tour they'll be playing stuff from throughout their career.
Details: 8 p.m. April 27, Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall, 777 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota. Tickets: $52.62-$105.58. Information: 941-953-3368, vanwezel.org.
