Daryl Hall and John Oates perform in Sarasota
They're the biggest-selling duo in music history, and they're coming to Sarasota.
Daryl Hall and John Oates, whose list of hits includes "Sara Smile," "She's Gone," "Rich Girl," "Kiss on My List," "Private Eyes," "Maneater," "Out of Touch" and many, many more, will perform a concert at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall on Wednesday.
It's been quite a while since Daryl Hall and John Oates (who don't like being referred to as Hall & Oates, which is what almost everyone calls them) were constantly topping the pop charts. They did hit No. 1 on the adult contemporary charts with their version of "It Came Upon a Midnight Clear," but even that was nine years ago.
But they've always been popular on the concert circuit, and they're touring as much as ever. And just last year, they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. A few years earlier, they had been inducted the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
Hall has been busy with side projects too, including his acclaimed web series "Live From Daryl's House" and a home renovation series, "Daryl's Restoration Over-Hall" on the DIY Network.
The duo has had several hits with Christmas songs, so it's a good bet you'll hear a few of those during the course of a December concert.
Details: 8 p.m. Dec. 2, Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall, 777 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota. Tickets: $53.15-$272.50. Information: 941-953-3368, vanwezel.org.
