John Cleese and Eric Idle add second Sarasota show

You may have tried to get tickets to see John Cleese and Eric Idle's show at Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall in Sarasota. You may have been told the show was sold out.

Fret not. You've got another chance. The two very funny English gentlemen, both former members of Monty Python, have added another Van Wezel show.

The new show is scheduled for Oct. 1. That's one day before the originally scheduled show, which would have been the first show on the month-long tour.

Outside of Python, Cleese is probably best known for so-writing and starring in "Fawlty Towers," and Idle for being a member of the Rutles and for writing "Spamalot."

They're calling this show "John Cleese & Eric Idle: Together Again at Last For the Very First Time." They say it's an evening of "sit-down comedy, blending scripted and improvised bits with storytelling, musical numbers, exclusive footage, aquatic juggling and an extended audience Q&A."

They're probably kidding about the aquatic juggling, but you never know.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Aug. 28.

Details: 7:30 p.m. Oct. 1, Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall, 777 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota. Tickets: $59.50 plus service charge and up. Information: 941-953-3368, vanwezel.org.
