Former Beatle Ringo Starr, Sarah McLachlan set Sarasota dates

He was the drummer for the most famous rock band of all time. She's a Grammy-winning singer-songwriter and one of the most popular acts in music over the past two decades. They're both coming to Sarasota in the months ahead.

Ringo Starr and His All-Starr Band will play the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall at 8 p.m. Feb. 24. Sarah McLachlan will be there March 27.

The All-Starr Band has a fluid membership, and the current lineup is impressive, including guitarist Todd Rundgren, vocalist Steve Lukather of Toto and keyboardist/vocalist Gregg Rolie of Santana and Journey.

A typical All-Starr Band concert includes Beatles songs, Ringo's solo hits and songs that other bands members helped make famous.

McLachlan will headline the Van Wezel Foundation Gala.

Tickets for both shows will go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday (Nov. 14). Ringo Starr tickets are $55-$180. For McLachlan, they're $65-$135. Call 941-953-3368 or go to vanwezel.org.
