Back in the late ’80s, a newcomer named Travis Tritt burst onto the country music scene. He had a silly-looking mullet haircut (even sillier looking than most, even at the time) and he didn’t wear a cowboy hat. He also played a style of country music that was more rooted in blues and Southern rock than most of the other music on country radio at the time.

He won a bunch of Grammy Awards and Country Music Association Awards in his first decade as a country star.

He hasn’t had a major hit or won a major award in recent years, but Tritt is still making music, releasing albums and performing live shows. He’ll be at Robarts Arena in Sarasota on Sunday.

Americana singer Corey Smith and country up-and-comer Luke Combs are the openers.

A limited number of free tickets are available for children ages 10 and younger. You can only get one free child’s ticket for each adult ticket you buy. There were only 300 available to begin with, so if you’re interested in the free tickets you might want to act quickly.

Smith has been around for a while. His first album, “Undertones,” came out in 2003. His more recent albums have been more popular than his early ones, and they’ve done better on the folk charts than the country charts. His most recent album, “When the Gettin’ Is Good,” came out last year.

Combs has self-released three albums. He’s probably best known for his single “Hurricane,” which was a moderate hit in 2015.

Details: 6 p.m. Aug. 14, Robarts Arena, 3000 Ringling Blvd., Sarasota. $20-$99, plus service charge. 941-953-4359, a3concerts.com.
