Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa perform together in Tampa
They’re calling it the High Road Tour, a none-too-subtle reference to the fact that the headliners are two of the most prominent marijuana advocates this side of Bob Marley.
Rappers Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa will bring their tour to the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre in Tampa on Thursday. They’re joined by Kevin Gates, Jhene Aiko, Casey Veggies and DJ Drama.
Dogg and Khalifa both have strains of marijuana names after them — Leafs by Snoop and Khalifa Kush — and Khalifa said he spent $10,000 a month on marijuana before he got sponsorship deal that provided him with free weed.
They’re both more about the music than the marijuana though. Snoop Dogg is one of the biggest stars in the history of hip-hop, with albums going back to “Doggy Style” in 1993, up through this year’s “Coolaid.” Khalifa has been one of the most popular rappers in the past decade.
Gates released his first album (after a lot of mixtapes) earlier this year and it went to No. 1 on the rap charts. Aiko is an R&B singer best known for her Grammy-DJ. His fifth solo album is due out the day after the Tampa concert.
