Flo Rida to play free concert after Tampa Bay Rowdies game

Soccer and hip-hop would seem to go together like toothpaste and orange juice, but if you happen to be a fan of both you might want to head to St. Petersburg Saturday.

Rapper Flo Rida is set to perform a free concert at Al Lang Stadium following the Tampa Bay Rowdies game. It’ll be the fall season opener for the Rowdies, who take on the Jacksonville Armada FC. There’s a fireworks show after the game, and then Flo Rida will go on at about 10:15 p.m.

Flo Rida, as his name implies, is a Florida native, from down Miami way. He’s one of the most successful hip-hop artists of the past decade. He has sold more than 80 million worldwide digital downloads of “Low” and other hits, including “Right Round,” “Club Can’t Handle Me,” “Good Feeling,” “Wild Ones” and “My House.”

The concert is free, but you’ll have to pay $10-$85 if you want to see the Rowdies game. The game starts at 7:30 p.m. If you want to skip the soccer, you can just head into Al Lang anytime after the game and you won’t have to pay at all.

Details: About 10:15 p.m. July 2, Al Lang Stadium, 230 First St SE, St. Petersburg. Free. 727-222-2000
