Joe Walsh, Bad Company perform Saturday in Tampa
Like most bands who first hit it big in the 1970s, Bad Company has been through its share of lineup changes and even breakups. Frontman Paul Rodgers, who wields one of the most distinctive voices in rock music, left the band for more than a decade, and for a while Mick Ralphs was the only original member still with the band.
Now virtually the entire classic lineup of the band is back together. Rodgers, Ralphs and drummer Simon Kirk reunited a couple of years ago. Only bassist Boz Burrell, who passed away a decade ago, is absent from the current Bad Company lineup.
They’ll be in Tampa Sunday playing with guitar wizard Joe Walsh, a longtime friend of Rodgers and the band, at the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre.
Their joint tour is called “One Hell of a Night,” and Walsh and Bad Company are taking turns opening. There’s no word on which act will headlined the Tampa show.
Bad Company’s lineup has actually been augmented since its classic days. Besides bassist Todd Ronning, Bad Company now includes guitarist Howard Leese, who’s best known from his years with Heart.
