Blues, Brews and BBQ returns to Anna Maria

Last year, the first Blues, Brews & BBQ on Bridge Street in Anna Maria was cut short because of rain.

Organizers are hoping for better weather for this year’s event, but at least some forecasts are calling for thunder showers again.

So if you’re a fan of live music, craft beer and barbecue, keep your fingers crossed and your eyes on your weather app. The second Blues, Brews & BBQ is planned for 3 to 9 p.m. Saturday, and if the rain stays away it ought to be a great event.

Local blues man Sarasota Slim was supposed to play last year but the weather forced him to cancel. He’s scheduled to headline this year’s music lineup. Among the other area blues acts slated to play are Steve Arvey, Anna Maria Island favorite Mac McConnell and Longboat Key-based band Blues Pig.

Bradenton’s Motorworks Brewing will provide craft beers for the event. A full liquor bar along with standard domestic beers, wine and non-alcoholic selections will also be available. The menu features barbecue with ribs and pulled pork platters from Island Time Bar & Grill, plus favorites from Fire and Stone including barbecue-themed pizzas.
