The Bradenton Marauders have an unusual kind of double-header scheduled for Friday evening, a mixture of baseball and music.

If you’re a baseball fan, the main attraction is the game itself, in which the Marauders will take on Florida State League rivals the Dunedin Blue Jays. But after the game, internationally known recording artist Peter Furler and his band will perform in concert

Furler’s an Australian pop-rock performer who’s been an international force on the contemporary Christian music scene for decade. He was the founder of the award-winning Christian band the Newsboys, serving as the band’s drummer and singer starting in 1985 and switching to lead vocals exclusively in 1997. While he was with the Newsboys, the band was nominated for four Grammy Awards and 23 Dove Awards, winning five.

Furler went solo in 2007 and reached No. 2 on the U.S. Christian chart with his debut album, “On Fire.” He even made it to the upper echelons of the jazz charts with his 2014 album “Christmas.”

And there’s more. You’ll get a free T-shirt if you’re one of the first 750 people who enters the stadium.

There’s no extra charge for the concert. Tickets are same price as regular Marauders games that don’t include live music.

6:30 p.m. May 20, McKechnie Field, 1611 Ninth St. W., Bradenton. $6-$10. 941-748-4610, bradentonmarauders.com.
