Prince's 'Purple Rain' screens this week in Bradenton
Prince's 1984 film "Purple Rain" is far from a cinematic masterpiece, but it features a whole lot of amazing music performances by Prince and the Revolution, Apollonia 6, Morris Day and the Time and others.
Some TV stations have been showing an edited version in recent days, but you can see the whole movie, the way Prince intended it, this week at the Carmike Royal Palm 20.
Among the songs that Prince performs in the film are "When Doves Cry," "Purple Rain," "I Would Die 4 U" and "Let's Go Crazy."
It's running through Thursday, with screenings at 1, 4, 7 and 9 p.m. Tickets for evening shows are $10.75. Matinees are $5.75.
The Carmike Royal Palm 20 is at U.S. 301 and State Road 70 in Bradenton. You can get more information by calling 941-727-7469 or going to carmike.com.
