They've created platinum-selling albums and singles and a lot of controversy. They've won Grammy Awards for their music and won and lost fans for of their political statements.

Through it all, the Dixie Chicks have remained one of the most popular acts in music, even when radio stations had to stop playing their music because of death threats.

On Monday, the Dixie Chicks announced a 40-date tour that includes a stop Aug. 19 at the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre in Tampa.

That's a long time to wait, but if you're a Chicks fan you've had to wait before. The band stopped touring for several years, and a lot of people thought they were broken up for good when two of the three members toured and recorded under the name Court Yard Hounds. But all three of the Dixie Chicks -- Natalie Maines, Emily Robison and Martie Maguire -- are together again on this tour, which they're calling DCX MMXVI.

Tickets for the Tampa show go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Details: 7 p.m. Aug. 19, MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre, 4802 U.S. 301, Tampa. Tickets: $35-$129 plus service charge. Information: 813-740-2446, livenation.com.
