New ‘Star Wars' Series on Disney Plus Shatters Streaming Records
The new "Star Wars" series on Disney+ is surpassing all expectations.
Not only does "Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord" have a perfect 100% percent score on Rotten Tomatoes, breaking the record for “Star Wars” series on the reviews aggregate site, but it’s also currently dominating the streaming landscape.
The number one trending series on Disney+ in the United States, it took just seven days for the first episode to hit 4.1M views globally. It's also ranked in the Disney+ Top 10 every day since its premiere on April 6, 2026.
It’s a new benchmark for "Star Wars" shows. Previously, "Andor" was the high watermark with 96% and 97% for seasons 1 and 2, respectively. Critics love the brooding tone, noir storyline, and an expanded look at a classic "Star Wars" villain.
"I’m very proud of our team as they continue to challenge themselves and raise the bar on our animated shows,” says Lucasfilm President and Chief Creative Officer Dave Filoni. “They’ve done a fantastic job delivering something new and exciting with this series and we are all really happy that fans are enjoying it.”
