'The Facts of Life' Cast: Where Are They Now?

More than 40 years after its premiere, The Facts of Life is still giving Us something to talk about.

The sitcom debuted on NBC in August 1979 as a spinoff of Diff'rent Strokes.The Facts of Life aired for nine seasons, becoming one of the longest-running sitcoms of the '80s.

Before the series came to an end in 1988, the story of boarding school housemother Edna Garrett (Charlotte Rae) was expanded with two TV movies. The Facts of Life Goes to Paris aired in 1982, followed by The Facts of Life Down Under in 1987. A third film, The Facts of Life Reunion, brought together nearly the entire cast in 2001. (Nancy McKeon, who played Jo, was unable to participate at the time due to scheduling.)

Kim Fields



Following her work on Good Times in the late '70s, Fields starred as Tootie Ramsey on Diff'rent Strokes and on all nine seasons of The Facts of Life. Her TV career continued on Fox's Living Single and more '90s series before she joined the cast of The Real Housewives of Atlanta during season 8 in 2015. Fields competed on season 22 of Dancing With the Stars in 2016.

Fields was previously married to producer Johnathon Franklin Freeman from 1995 to 2001. She married actor Christopher Morgan in 2007 after welcoming their first son, Sebastian. Son Quincy was born in 2013.

Charlotte Rae



Reprising her Diff'rent Strokes role, Rae's performance as Edna Garrett on The Facts of Life earned her an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series in 1982. Later in her more than 60-year career, she turned to voice acting and appeared on Disney Channel's Girl Meets World.

Rae was married to composer John Strauss from 1951 to 1976, and the former couple shared two sons. Rae died in 2011 at age 90 following a battle with Parkinson's disease.

Lisa Whelchel



Whelchel got her start on The New Mickey Mouse Club before she was cast as Blair Warner on Diff'rent Strokes and The Facts of Life. Along with acting, Whelchel pursued a career in music. She released a Christian pop album titled All Because of You in 1984 and was nominated for Best Inspirational Performance at the Grammy Awards. In 2012, Whelchel competed on Survivor: Philippines, ending the season tied for second place. She won $100,000 after being voted the fan-favorite contestant.

A devout Christian, Whelchel married Steven Cauble, an associate pastor at her California church, in 1988. The pair welcomed three kids before their 2012 divorce. Whelchel exchanged vows with Pete Harris in 2019.

Mindy Cohn



Along with playing Natalie Green on the NBC sitcom, Cohn voiced Velma in the Scooby-Doo franchise from 2002 to 2015. She's appeared on Hot in Cleveland, The Middle, Bones and had a recurring role on The Secret Life of the American Teenager. Cohen was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012 and was declared cancer-free five years later. Cohn revealed in April 2026 that she was diagnosed with cancer again.

Nancy McKeon



Following appearances on The Secret Storm and Another World, McKeon was cast as Jo Polniaczek during season 2 of The Facts of Life. After the series wrapped, she nearly starred on the TV adaptation of Working Girl and auditioned for the role of Monica Geller on Friends. Other TV credits include Can't Hurry Love, Style & Substance and The Division. McKeon competed on season 27 of DWTS in 2018.

McKeon dated Michael J. Fox for three years early in her career. She married Marc Andrus, a crew member on her Hallmark movie A Mother's Gift, in 2003. They share two children.

Molly Ringwald



Now known for her work in John Hughes films such as Sixteen Candles and The Breakfast Club, Ringwald began her career as a child star on Diff'rent Strokes and The Facts of Life. She played Molly Parker on the spinoff but was among the cast members cut at the beginning of the second season. Ringwald later starred on The Secret Life of the American Teenager, Riverdale, Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story and Feud: Capote vs. The Swans.

Ringwald was married to French writer Valéry Lameignère from 1999 to 2002. She moved on with Panio Gianopoulos, whom she married in 2007. They welcomed daughter Mathilda in 2003 and twins Adele and Roman in 2009.

Mackenzie Astin



The younger brother of Sean Astin, Mackenzie made his debut as Andy Moffett on The Facts of Life during season 6 in 1984. He's also appeared on Scandal, Lost, Homeland, Psych, Grey's Anatomy, NCIS and more. He starred as Gil Brigham on season 3 of Netflix's You. Mackenzie married Jennifer Abbott Astin in 2011.

George Clooney



Clooney played a handyman on seasons 7 and 8 of the sitcom before landing his big break as Dr. Doug Ross on ER. He starred on the series from 1994 to 1999, earning nominations for Emmy and Golden Globe Awards. On the big screen, he's starred in From Dusk Till Dawn, The Peacemaker, Batman & Robin, the Ocean's trilogy, The Descendants and more. Clooney has won two Oscars, a BAFTA and four Golden Globe Awards. In 2022, he received a Kennedy Center Honor.

Clooney was previously married to Talia Balsam from 1989 to 1993 and has been linked to Cameron Diaz, Charlize Theron, Renée Zellweger and more. He got engaged to Amal Clooney in April 2014, and the couple tied the knot that September. They welcomed twins Ella and Alexander in 2017.

Cloris Leachman



Leachman worked in Hollywood for nearly 80 years, winning eight Emmys, an Oscar, a Golden Globe and a BAFTA throughout her career. Along with playing Beverly Ann Stickle on The Facts of Life, Leachman is known for her roles on The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Promised Land, Malcolm in the Middle, Raising Hope and more. She competed on DWTS season 7 in 2008.

Leachman was married to George Englund, with whom she shared five kids, from 1953 to 1979. She died of natural causes in 2021 at the age of 94.

Pamela Adlon



During season 5 of The Facts of Life, Adlon played Kelly Affinado. Following her success as a child star, she voiced Bobby Hill on King of the Hill, winning an Emmy for Outstanding Voice-Over Performance in 2002. She went on to star on Boston Legal, Californication, Louie and Better Things. More recently, she starred as Dr. Leigh on This Is Us.

The actress shares three kids with ex-husband Felix Adlon, to whom she was married from 1996 to 2010.

Geri Jewell



Jewell worked as a stand-up comedian before being offered a role on The Facts of Life in 1980. She played Geri Tyler, Blair's cousin, and became the first actor with a disability to have a recurring role on a TV show. Jewell was diagnosed with cerebral palsy as an infant, and her character was groundbreaking when it comes to representation on screen. Her contract with the series ended in 1984, the same year her autobiography Geri was published. Her second book, I'm Walking as Straight as I Can, was released in 2011.

From 2004 to 2006, Jewell appeared on the HBO series Deadwood, later returning for Deadwood: The Movie in 2019.
