Bradenton’s hometown heroes play this weekend’s NHL All-Star Game
Hundreds of thousands of people will be on the streets of Tampa this weekend for the city’s annual Gasparilla Pirate Fest. Another 20,000 or so will be inside Amalie Arena Sunday in downtown Tampa for the NHL All-Star Game.
There will be a ton of music around the area, including a free concert featuring Fitz and the Tantrums and Moon Taxi at Curtis Hixon Park on Friday. Flo Rida will be doing an invitation-only performance somewhere too.
But Bradenton residents who are planning to head up for the game have a special treat awaiting them. Have Gun, Will Travel, a locally based band that has built an international following, will be part of a free concert just outside the arena before the game. (There are free concerts with area bands Friday, Saturday and Sunday around the arena.) You don’t need a ticket to attend.
HGWT is scheduled to play at 2 p.m. on the Cotanchobee Music Stage. If you’re at Amalie Arena you ought to be able find the stage, which is in Cotanchobee Park, adjacent to the arena. But if you want to enter the address into your Google maps app, the exact address is 601 Channelside Drive. Amalie Arena is at 401 Channelside Drive.
