Tusk re-creates the music of Fleetwood Mac at SCF
You never know when – or even whether – Fleetwood Mac will tour down this way again.
And if they do, you’re likely to have to shell out big bucks to see them, and probably have to drive to Tampa or somewhere.
But on Sunday afternoon, a Fleetwood Mac tribute band called Tusk is performing at the Neel Performing Arts Center at State College of Florida. Judging by some of the audio and video clips that are available, Tusk sounds a lot like Fleetwood Mac, and even has the look down pretty well.
The five members of Tusk — Kathy Phillips (summoning Stevie Nicks on vocals) and Scott McDonald (Lindsey Buckingham/ guitar and vocals), Kim Williams (Christine McVie/keys, vocals), Randy Artiglere (John McVie/ bass) and Tom Nelson (Mick Fleetwood/drums) — all had established music careers before joining together to re-create the music of one of the best-selling bands of all time.
Phillips has released several albums as a solo artist.
Most of the songs they do (“Dreams,’ “Landslide,” “Rhiannon,” “Songbird”’ “Tusk,” etc.) come from the era of the Mac’s greatest popularity, when they were fronted by Nicks, Buckingham and Christine McVie. But they also reach back to the pre-Buckingham/Nicks era for such great songs songs as “Oh Well.”
Tusk’s performance at SCF is part of the Sundays at the Neel series.
