From her start as a Brill Building songwriter, when she partnered with her then-husband Gerry Goffin, to her later development as a solo performer, Carole King created countless hits that have become part of America’s collective subconscious.

A touring show titled “Tapestry: Tribute to Carole King” re-creates the sounds of a Carole King concert. It’s coming to the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall on Tuesday.

You probably know a lot of her songs, but “Tapestry” may still surprise King fans with the scope of her songwriting credits. Among her hits from before she became a recording artist in her own right are “Will You Love Me Tomorrow” for the Shirelles, “Take Good Care of My Baby” and “Run to Him” for Bobby Vee, “Crying in the Rain” for the Everly Brothers, “The Loco-Motion” for Little Eva, “Up on the Roof” for the Drifters, “One Fine Day” for The Chiffons, “I’m Into Something Good” for Earl Jean, but a bigger hit for Herman’s Hermits, “Just Once in My Life” for The Righteous Brothers and “Don’t Bring Me Down” for The Animals.

After all those hits came her own performing career, which produced such hits as “So Far Away” and “I Feel the Earth Move.”

The tribute show stars Jeannie Austin on piano and vocals, with back-up singers and a live band.

The title, of course, references King’s 1971 album “Tapestry,” which remained the best-selling album by a female artist for a quarter century.

Details: 8 p.m. Jan. 23, Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall, 777 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota. $21-$56. 941-953-3368, vanwezel.org.
